This fun Beetle is located in Maryland in the hands of a fellow that has
really put a lot of time
and money into building the car.
It is a major crowd pleaser wherever it goes and he has brought it to many
shows and events
and had a great time with it. He has invested far more than he will ever
get for it, but it is time
to find the car a new home and so he has priced it reasonably to see it off.
The graphics are inspired by the Herbie films of course,
done in vinyl, they could be removed of course,
but after a weekend of driving around with it you will realize what a powerful
character Herbie is...you just cant be in a bad mood behind the wheel of
#53!
Many "smiles per gallon" to be sure.
This car is done to "driver quality" when it comes to the cosmetics, it is
not a concours show car
but out back it packs a mean punch with a massive 2332cc powerplant that
makes it
feel well worthy of the racing numbers and stripes...this car is FAST!
While I am sure it might not win the race with the cars in the background...it
would sure put up a good fight!
The interior features full instrumentation, nice modern seats and matching
panels
and a bunch of cool extras.
Tachometer, oil pressure, oil temp.
Check out the custom speedometer with the 200 mph limit!!
Fuel gauge and cylinder head temp.
Original Wolfsburg AM/FM radio sits in the dash, but a modern unit is hidden
away and can be controlled by remote.
Racing pedals and a fire extinguisher and a CSP performance shifter.
The 2332cc engine features a 911 Porsche style fan and shroud, 44 Webers,
010 distributor
and all the trick parts. This engine has only 2500 miles on it since being
built!
It is mated up to a Rancho Pro-Street trans with freeway flyer gearing,
so it can really get along well in modern traffic!
(as well as surprise a lot of folks at stop light showdowns)
The Jackman wheels and lowered stance give the car some attitude,
The Hella driving lights and taped headlights ... Herbie is ready for action!
Bridgestone tires on all four corners (and a matching spare)
The owner has a whole tone of spare parts for the car that are going with
it as well.
Cool exhaust!
This is a style you dont see very often...and it sounds awesome!
Great stance...and that slide back sunroof...gotta love that!
Decklid stand offs kick the lid open at the top for clearance of the carbs
and some added air flow.
Scat Elite seies seats and matching panels in grey velour material.
4 point roll cage.
Koni shocks all the way around, Optima gel battery under the front hood,
Momo steering wheel.
That engine is something else when you pop the lid!
Wow!
Battery box fitted under the hood.
A lot of wiring and a modern fuse box in place for all the instruments and
audio.
Deep oil sump, auxillary oil filter, Empi Camber Compensator, Bugpack engine
truss bar, Superior control bars.
This thing handles!!
Here is a pic of the engine just before install...just about 2500 miles on
it now.
4 wheel disc brakes by AC Industries.
Nice set up!
In closing this is a fun machine in many ways.
The theme of course will bring a smile to all who see it, and the performance
engine and suspension upgrades will put a smile on your face when you are
in the drivers seat.
