"Das Speedster"

Well HERE we have something different!!
It started out as one very rusty but free Craigslist 1962 VW Type1
body.
The entire body has been sectioned 6" and then the length of the body
has been shortened by 12"
and the width of the body from the cowl back has been narrowed 4".
The rear deck lid is a reverse opening super beetle hood that has been
cut and widened 3".
The doors are suicide mounted with hidden hinges. the dash is all
steel and hand crafted.
The body is channeled over 2x3 frame rails by 4". The windshield has
been cut down 4".
Front axle is a 6" dropped axle with GM disc brakes.
The engine is a brand new 1985 rx7 12a rotary that was sitting on a
crate since it left the Mazda factory back in 1985.
gone through completely all new seals in it along with 3mm carbon seals
from Racing Beats.
It has a Racing Beats intake with a 48mm side draft Dellorto,
Racing Beats Header with mufflers or with a 10 minute change out you
can have the custom double barrelled zoomy pipes from hell.
Wheels are one off American Racing Salt Flat Specials as they made the
fronts only 4" wide with a centered offset and the rears are 6" wide
with a centered offset.
Tires are brand new Coker Classics. Transmission is a factory manual
5speed.
Steering wheel is a VDM wheel. Rear axle is 2001 Ford Ranger with posi.
Power brakes and hydraulic clutch assemby are from a 2000 mitsubishi
eclipse.
This VW weighs 1089lbs and with the 4:11 rear end and has out run a
buddies E39 M5 on numerous occasions. The wheelbase is 101". It is an
all steel car

The car draws crowds wherever it goes, regardless of what type of car
show it is.
The car seems equally well received at Hot Rod events as it does VW
events.

The quality of the build is excellent...done to a proper high end hot
rod level.
Great color choice, fantastic stance and a truly custom, yet vintage
vibe to it.

The sound that rotary engine makes is a song from out of this world and
it really
gets the heads turning with a "what the heck is that??" wherever it
goes.
These engines rev very high and tuned like this one is, it really hauls
serious tail.

A very unique approach to the Volksrod style.

And all opened up it is even wilder looking!

Interior is really well done ...so cool!

We have a lot more details to post on this wild ride here
shortly...this is just a teaser.
