1963 "Manx Style" Dune Buggy For Sale
There are few cars in the world as crazy fun as a fiberglass dune buggy.
If you are driving a Buggy it is a very safe bet that you are someone that lives life to the fullest.
Wind in your hair and the sun on your face, creature comforts are for the "normals"
life is too short to drive a boring car...and this right here is anything but boring.
Based on a 1963 VW Chassis, this rolling jungle gym is located in beautiful
Temecula California, right on the border of "wine country" and "dirt country"
and with the cooler temperatures rolling in these days, it is perfect time
to head for the hills and scare up some dust.
The car is street legal and road registered, clean title in hand.
It is an excellent runner and driver with thousands spent recently on mechanical and electrical work.
The engine is a fire breathing 2275cc with brand new dual 44 Weber carbs,
big valve dual port heads, 8 dowel counter weighted crankshaft, performance cam, solid rocker shafts
with swivel seat adjusters, Bosch 009 distributor and ignition wires, heavy duty oil pump,
blue coil, and a new battery, starter and generator just recently installed.
Chrome engine tins, the fan shroud being the "dog house" style with the larger oil cooler.
Bolt on aluminum valve covers and ceramic coated "zoom tube" exhaust,
this is a car that you truly hear coming and going.
Beautifully done rear cage is fully integrated into the roll cage for strength.
Edelbrock electric fuel pump has been installed, the factory mechanical pump disconnected.
Engine built by Major Performance Racing Engines and is estimated to crank out 185hp.
That might be a bit over estimating, but there is no denying that in a 1300lb fiberglass Buggy
that it is one seriously fast ride!
The paint and body is in very good condition, not fresh and flawless
but obviously done well and still looking great.
The black has a pearl in it that catches the light in an amazing way and the contrasting flames
are incredibly fun and colorful.
Diamond plate side panels add style and protection.
Black windshield frame and mirrors visually blend very well into the roll cage and interior.
It has a clean and serious look to it, ready for play.
The wheels are a rare set of Ultra wide 5 cast aluminum wheels that are perfect for that 70s style look.
Tires are near new and the chrome lugs and center caps finish off the rolling stock perfectly.
Amber topped Euro style VW taillights are flush mounted to the rear body.
Side marker reflectors in place on front and rear for safety during night time runs.
Ball joint front end from a post 66 model Beetle has been used.
VW chassis tag affixed to the body up front for identification.
Chrome off road lights and nerf bar wrap up the front end attributes.
New shocks are visible in this pic as well.
Custom diamond plate aluminum dash panel is fitted with what appear to be Porsche VDO gauges.
Brand new Kenwood head unit mounted in a weather proof case.
Unit it bluetooth compatible and is pushing the tunes through an amp and a 10" subwoofer.
The vast majority (probably 80%) of the miles shown on the odometer were collected
while being flat towed behind an RV (tow bar included).
Actual mileage on the engine is significantly less and with new heads, carbs, rockers, fan, etc
just a few miles ago, the rig is fully tuned and tweaked and ready for many miles of adventure ahead.
Awesome full roll cage is well fit and with its central overhead bars allows for
much easier access in and out of the Buggy.
Oh...here is a pic of the under dash including speaker placement.
In this shot you can see the subwoofer, flamed rubber floor mats and bomber shifter with reverse trigger.
High back buggy seats have comfortable velour and vinyl covers ad are fitted with 4 point harness belts.
Sit down, buckle up...and hold on!!
Battery and voltage regulator are fitted nicely into a metal tool box that
is sunk into the rear deck. flasher relay is also within and there is even a little room
for a can of fix a flat and your registration papers...all secure and lockable if desired.
The radio housing also has a 12 volt power point affixed to the side to charge your devices
These Ultra wheels are really one of the coolest aluminum rims for the wide 5 pattern.
They remind me of the old finned Western Wheels that were everywhere in the mid to late 70's.
Great looks and a very strong wheel as well.

Here in this shot you can catch some of that purple pearl shining through on the rear panel in the sun.
Gotta love it.
Clean buggy, well sorted, well equipped and far faster than it should be with that big performance engine.
