1974 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia For Sale

This San Diego based Karmann Ghia is a good runner and driver that is ready for fun.

It has a reasonably recent coat of paint and mechanically is in very strong condition.

The car is what I like to call a "driver quality" car.
It is not done to show level and there is room for improvement,
but it is a good basis for someone that wants to have a fun car to drive and fix up over time.

1974 was the last year of production for the Ghia.

Underneath the engine has a little grime, but nothing major.

The body seems quite solid...there are a couple chips and scratches and I did see
some minor bubbles starting to pop out

The nose is in nice shape and the ridge down the middle is as it should be

Nice shine to the paint and with the dark wheels and dark window tint
it has a sportly and slighly mysterious look to it.

Carpet is good

Headliner is intact

Seats have been redone in black and white vinyl

Chrome is a bit faded on the bumpers

Tires are in good shape on painted black 8 spoke wheels

Body seems fairly straight down the sides.
The trim along the body has been replaced with a black stick on trim

VW logo

The ride height seems lust a little taller than most Ghia's I see

The window tint is nice against the white exterior

Black luggage rack on the back.

The current owner has had the car about 7 years and has put a lot of money into it to make it a reliable driver.
He has had his fun and is ready to send it on to a new owner.

Inside the nose you can see signs of some very minor bodywork...but just little stuff.

Car was originally orange in color and you can see it peeking out in the door jams if you look real close

Door panel is warped a bit

Platic on the dash should be replaced

1600cc engine runs great and with the dual carbs has a little bit more "go" than stock.
Reportedly very low miles since the last rebuild.

Engine compartment has been sprayed quickly in black.

Emblems have been painted black

Rack bolts on through the air vents, so it is removable without leaving holes.

Here you can see the dash plastic is a little messy.
Replacement plastic is readily available in black or woodgrain and would make a very big difference in here.

Instruments are in nice shape

A bit of messy wiring under the dash

Carpet shows a little wear but overall is in decent shape

Stock steering wheel

Production date of 8/73...so the first of the 74 models

Rockers look solid

Chassis overall is quite solid but it does have a couple spots needing attention

This is the worst spot...

The rest looks pretty solid indeed!

In closing this is pretty decent car.
It is overall quite solid with just the one spot underneath needing attention.
Drive it as it is, give it your touch and a little attention to improve upon it over time.
A good Ghia is hard to find!
