1968 VW Beetle Autostick For Sale
SOLD!

This 1968 Beetle Sedan is located in New Jersey and is an impressive original survivor
with a great history and paper trail.

The body appears to be original paint according to the owner, with normal touch ups along the door edge and other wear spots.
It does appear that the drivers side rear fender was repainted at some point, but it is obvious it is a car that
has had a very well kept and easy life. Mileage is 54k and that is most definitely thought to be original.

It is absolutely all stock and proper with no signs of modification or manipulation.
It shows very well indeed and is a also a wonderful driver.

Wonderful to see the stock details in place such as the two tone wheels and bumper guards with the rubber strips.

The car is currently with its fourth owner since new.
The original owners were a German couple from the US that ordered the car
under the Tourist Delivery program and they picked it up at the factory in Wolfsburg.
They had a wonderful trip through Europe including a ski trip to the Swiss Alps (ski rack still on the back).
After their adventure they shipped the car back home to the US and kept it until 1992 before finally parking it
with approx 50k original miles on the odometer.

The car was sold to owner #2 in the early 2000's to a gentleman who got it running
and serviced and prepared for sale and it eventually found a new home with a lady in Pennsylvania
that had always wanted an AutoStick Beetle. She drove it very minimally and owned it until just last year
when the current owner took over the stewardship of this wonderful survivor.

The original Tourist Delivery decal is in the window

Service books documenting all the service and care and every tank of fuel run through it.

Truly remarkable bunch of paperwork and service receipts are included.
Original owners manual, tool roll and original spare wheel and tire.

The cleanliness and level of preservation is quite impressive.
Being an East Coast car the rubber and interior has remained in excellent shape and thanks
to a lifetime f amazing care, it has made it through the past 51 years without any rust issues or repairs.

The original engine is fantastic with the very clean markings still on the
fan shroud and primarily all original German parts.
The carburetor and coil have been replaced, as have the points and condenser
and underneath recently the shock absorbers have also been replaced with new ones.

Check out the original German hose clams on the fresh air hose and the shine on that original engine tin.
The current owner is a long time VW nut that has owned many Beetles in his life, and he says this is
by far the best runner and driver he has ever driven. He would not hesitate to drive it across the country>

The interior is all original and is in remarkable condition!

The AutoStick transmission shifts smoothly and is a delight to drive.

Original decals in the door jam

Original carpets and rubber floor mats.

Wow! Dreamy condition in here.

Door jams and thresholds are very clean.

Dash pad looks amazing

Original German radio with VW logo knobs.
The radio is not currently working and the windshield washer hose is disconnected so that is not operational
but everything else works exactly as it should.

It really is a beautiful example.
I so love to see true survivors like this.
They are always a treat to work on as everything is just as it left the factory.
No "angry hands" or unskilled repairs or modifications.
A well cared for original example like this is THE one to chase if you are a true VW aficionado.

Original German bumpers...a couple scratches on the front blade.

Very slight warp to the blade above the license plate.
Front apron look super straight and clean.

I just love it.

The AutoStick transmission is a rarity these days and while in the
past was scoffed at, is now a hot property with collectors and those that prefer
not to have the clutch.

The AutoStick emblem in in great shape.
The car is currently registered in the sellers name and he has clean title in hand.

Fantastic ski racks have been on the car since that original ski trip to the Alps in Switzerland

You can just see the pockets for the ski tips behind the bumper.

Mega solid and clean

So nice to see these original mats in place...this material I dont think is being reproduced.

Original headliner is impressive as well

Glove box is clean

Inspection sticker from its Pennsylvania past.

VW logo still has that black paint detail in the groove.

Rear apron looks excellent with no rust or damage.

A couple small spots where the paint has worn through.

Hinge areas look clean and proper.
Obviously original finish and the proper plastic caps in place,

The underside is very solid!

No rust or signs of repairs.

Very clean under the rear seat

That original headliner blows my mind!
Even under the rear window it looks perfect.
Out here in California those get sun cooked so fast!

Always garaged and only driven when the weather allows and no salt on the roads.

Under the front hood looks great as well

Love this stuff...nothing beats an original example like this.

There is a little wear to the carpet edge and mats, but this just proves the originality of the car.

Luggage area is excellent and even the seat tie down strap is present!

Dome light even works!
Seats look amazing.

Panels are all original and well preserved as well

Nice radial tires on the correct original two tone wheels

Time capsule

Wow!
Check out that clean original finish in the spare tire well!

Original paint code sticker with the paper inspection tag still intact underneath.

Wiring is all factory and in excellent shape.
You can see the red wax seal on the speedometer cable in this shot
as well as the original pressboard glove box.

I just drooled on my keyboard... sOrrY.... WOW!

Original jack is in its holder with the handle properly stowed in the center.

The original trunk liner shows only minimal wear.
Nice to see the original tool roll as well.

Washer bottle in the right place.

And another glimpse of the wonderful engine room.

This is the only fender that looks to have been repainted. The rest is original finish and has held up very well.
It is not flawless, it shows aging consistent with the use and care.
There are some chips and scratches and minor checking in the finish
in spots if you look super close. There is a very small dent in the drivers front fender and that's about it.

In closing this is a wonderful car.
Its so pure and so "right".
