1964/1970 Baja Bug For Sale

The Baja Bug has become a true institution.
Its a sector of the VW scene that spanned for decades of constant evolution
and ranges from casual recreational dirt play to serious professional competition and endurance.

What started out as backyard hacks and home modifications of stock Beetles
has become a worldwide industry...and it all boils down to the simplicity and durability of the humble VW Beetle.

This Baja is a very fun blend of fun toy and serious equipment.

The binder fat full of receipts and information on the car,
one that appears to have been a long evolving and improving project by an enthusiastic owner/builder.

Full roll cage in this rig tied from bumper to bumper.
All business in the cockpit for the driver and navigator.

The car has been used in many fun events throughout the west.

Headset communication system, CB radio, navigation and more.

Flat black and all business on the outside.
Body appears to be a 1964 or thereabouts but the chassis is a 1970 with the
IRS rear end and many modifications.

This is not a shiny trailer queen, this is a car that you can flog and flail about with and not stress out
over a chip or scratch, in fact the more of those it gets, the better it looks.

Awesome light bar with heavy support and four serious spotlights.

Suspension has been significantly modified with long travel Bilstein shocks and limit straps for jumping.

Massive slid plate up front and major bracing for the front end and bumper

New Crow seat harnesses and nicely padded front seats.

Rear cage and the long travel shocks coming through the body.

Chassis dates to 1970.

Optima gel battery with cut off switch.

Roll cage is significant in its structure.
No carpet or insulation in the car, this is wild and loud just like it should be.

Sizable grab bar for the passenger/navigator.

Garmin Etrex GPS unit.

Stock Beetle speedometer and a small Pro Tachometer.

Voltage gauge and simple well labeled switches and warning lights.

Simple key switch to star and a Uniden CB radio under the dash.

MG 400 communications hub allows for the driver and navigator to communicate via headset
which at full blast across the desert is a really cool set up as this baby is very loud inside.

New padding on the roll cage at entry.

Deist window nets snap in place on both doors.

Extended box trailing arms with 930 axles and disc brakes.

Engine is a simple and reliable mild performance set up with a displacement of 1776cc
What I love about an engine like this is that it is big enough to be super fun, but not so wild that you have to deal
with heat issues and crazy tuning issues. It is simple and easy to service and it runs very good.

The current owner has muffled it down a bit with this dual can set up.

A louder and free flowing exhaust is included in the sale.

Rear lighting is bright LED.

Beefy transmission and rear suspension set up.

Spun aluminum fuel tank under the front.

Brand new off road tires all the way around on polished aluminum wide 5 wheels.

Rear wheels feature bead locks.

The car is street legal and currently registered which allows for greater access
through many trails and roads that a full off highway vehicle would not be allowed
as well as being something you can drive on the asphalt as well as the dirt.

Most certainly a fair weather car with no roll up windows

Fuel tank access through the hood.

A few product decals here and there.

I love the Mooneyes light covers.

Fiberglass front end removes for easy access to the areas beneath.

In closing this is fun one, built to run hard and take it!
There is a ton of time, money and fabrication in this build,
