The Eyeball Engineering 1968 Volks Rod

This car is a star!
Cover car of Hot VWs in March 2016 with an impressive 4+ page spread.

The car was the dream project for Bruce Bewarder of Eyeball Engineering.
Known for his impressive VW suspension systems as well and many other fantastic items,
Bruce and his good friends transformed a derelict 1968 Sedan into a true one off hand built custom.

The details go on and on with the car and as you will see in the detailed photos below,
this is truly a one of a kind machine.

Specs on the impressive Steve Timms built 2110cc engine.

And specs on the transmission as well.

The fenderless car has so many subtle changes, I am certain I am going to miss quite a few.
But lets start with the body and the re-shaped lower edges with that tasteful fender flare and rocker treatment
as well as the fully finished and smoothed out fender wells.

Front apron has been totally re-shaped.
Check out the independant front suspension peeking out as well
as the custom front bumper and lighting placement.

The car is so wonderfully fluid and smooth.
Major changes but still obviously a Beetle underneath it all.
Roof height was left stock, but a canvas sunroof was added as well as one piece door windosws

Amazing amount of re-shaping going on here and it look oh so smooth.
Check out the polished air intake as well as the meaty tires out back here.

Its truly out of this world.
When I see a Beetle customized to this level I always wonder what Ferdinand Porsche would think of the changes to his initial design.

I love the stance of the car. Nose down but not silly slammed
and the un-chopped roofline makes it something that is comfortable to drive.

The rear end is my favorite part of the car.
It just all comes together so nicely in the end!

The custom rear grille under the window is a superb touch as is the sleek and slim chrome bumper to protect the
body. The removable rear apron is another very nice touch and those taillights are super cool.

Pop out rear quarter windows are fantastic with the sunroof.

From all angles the car is just way too fun.

The level of detailing in the build of the car is very impressive. The more you look, the more you see,

It just goes on and on when you get into the deep bits of the car.
Check out that wiring!

Lots of custom machined parts such as the fuel tank mounts and the hydraulic hood hinges.

Very sanitary!

The sunroof is very well fit and fully functional.

Out back the details continue with that amazing turned firewall and all the special engine bits.

Check out the rear deck lid hinges with removable pins.

Impressive 2110 powerhouse with many upgrades.

The HEI GM distributor converted for 4cyl use is particularly wild.

Dash panel is a fully polished billet aluminum part filled with VDO instruments.

Tilt steering column is something not often seen  and that amazing sprint car style steering wheel .
I lust love the look of that!

Crazy aluminum shifter.

Aluminum door panels are a work of art in their own right.
The grab handle and power window switch set up is another one off detail.

These are awesome!

Check out the beautiful leather seating too!

I just totally dig the rear vent treatment.

Back inside it is a wonderful blend of hard hot rod and comfy class.

Very unique and cool approach.

Out back is fully finished but with the rear seat deleted.

Nice trim work.

Door sill trims are pure art...I just love this finish and always have.

Check out the steering colum set up as well as the custom switch panel under the dash.

The underside of the car?
It is equally insane and fully detailed.

In closing this car is much more than a cut down Beetle, it is a true work of art and engineering.
Bruce has left us, but his pride and joy remains.
I am sure he will be very pleased from above to see this car find a home with someone that appreciates it as much as he did.
You could never build the car for the asking price...this was a labor of love.
Feel free to bring all offers. The car must be sold and a new home found.

Asking
$16,500 obo
