1957 / 1968 VW Safari Trail Dune Buggy

This Northern California Kustom style Buggy is a very cool machine.
Original gel coat survivor with awesome period pinstriping and details.
Pulled from nearly 40 years of storage and revived in 2022.

A 6 month resurrection during which everything was refurbished, inspected or rebuilt.
New brakes, rebuilt front end, new wiring, new interior, refurbished engine,
new carburetor, fuel pump, and a whole lot more.

The original finish was sealed with a fresh clear coat
to give it it's shine yet let the originality show through.

Awesome polished slot mags with bias ply tires up front
and period "cheater slicks" out back.

Dual angled headlights give it that wild 60's funk,
Chopped windshield with yellow tint continues with the theme.

Mega cool pin striping from back in the day,
faded through a bit in spots but that all adds to the survivor look.

The wacky crossed "Mooneyes" definitely bring out the smiles.

Windshield was chopped 5"

The black California plate was the one that came with the car when found.
Period accessory license plate light and "Hollywood" frame.

Chevy Impala taillights give it a really cool period look.
Reportedly the pin striping on the body was done by custom car legend
Dick Dean who was heavily involved in the Safari Trail buggy brand.

There is a notable finish crack on the read body edge.

Chrome bullet fender mirrors.

Awesome vintage style diamond tuck upholstery

Chrome Hella front turn signals

Front end was fully rebuilt and restored, new chrome brake drums and shocks installed.

Like bug eyed little rocket jets! So cool

Ready for take off!

The Detoxica name is very fun.
