1967 VW Beetle Show Car For Sale

This 67 Beetle is a truly impressive build.
The owner has provided fantastic photos of the car that will guide you
through it quite well.
Rather than wear my fingers to the bone with over 100 captions for each
photo posted,
I will lay out the whole story and then chime in with my thoughts here
and there....
The car is originally from the Phoenix area, and had a total body-off
restoration and paint to very high quality, on a rust and accident free
two owner car, about ten years ago.
Paint work cost $8000 at the time, it is finished in 1972 Dodge Bright
Turquoise. All hardware is stainless, and everything is either chromed,
polished, or painted body color.
Even the transmission and starter have polished ribs and body color
paint. Since 2000, it has had about 10,000 miles of use, but even the
underside is still almost perfect.
The car changed hands in 2006 for
and at the time was professionally appraised at $19,500
The car changed hands again in 2007, still staying in the Phoenix area.
That owner spent considerable time and money on an already excellent
car.
The interior was totally redone using very high quality materials, at a
cost of over $7000.
The engine was rebuilt by Competition Engineering in Phoenix,
using a 2332 cc displacement and all the best parts.
(eg carbon fiber 911 fan shroud) at a cost of over $7000.
A custom fuel injection system was built, utilizing the Simple Digital
Systems "SDS" engine control computer and ignition system. (approved
for aircraft use, cost of approx. $1400).
Transmission is a rhino case with 3.88 gears, built by Albert
Eschenbaugh, and was new approx. 3000 miles ago. Gene Berg locking
shifter.
The car was sold in 2009 to a non-enthusiast on the East Coast and only
accumulated another 300 miles before the current owner purchased the
car in July of last year.
He has subsequently spent considerable time and effort sorting
and tuning the car, and prepping it to show. Unfortunately, his plans
have changed and he now needs to sell the car.
The car is now located in the Monterey area and has a clear California
title.
The car features full Porsche vented disc brakes, Porsche master
cylinder and original early Porsche Fuchs polished alloy rims
(including spare) with the rare 6" wide rims on the rear.
Michelin tires are new, with less than 500 miles.
The front suspension is Puma adjustable beam, J-Tech lowered spindles
and a new TRW steering box were used.
Other features:
Full custom VDO instrumentation and wideband O2 gauge for tuning.
Flat lens H-4 headlights, front turn signals hidden in the headlight
shell.
Swing out rear windows
Two row oil cooler with electric fan
Remote spin-on oil filter
A-1 Sidewinder exhaust with Stainless muffler (no longer available)
Optima Red Top battery
Halotron 2.5 lb fire extinguisher
High quality fitted car cover
Removeable deck lid for show and easy access
This is a partial list of the work that was done since last year:

Revise tuning for new fuel injectors
Add wideband O2 meter and relocate O2 sensor
Add fuel return line from surge tank to main tank
