1959 VW Beetle Convertible For Sale

This is a very fun Southern California based Beetle convertible with endless character and
fully sorted mechanicals. It is a rusty beach car and is probably not for the purist...but if you want a car that
is endlessly fun and has a fantastic attitude...this one is worth a look.

The car is in essence "restored" when it comes to interior and mechanicals.
The top is full restored with all new wood, powder coated frame, new headliner, padding and cover as well
as all new window seals and scrapers.

The body was left alone other than a buff and polish...all the years of use and abuse are still evident
but it all adds character.

The interior is crazy cool with all new high end carpet, custom door panels and fantastic seat upholstery that was
made from new old stock 1950's accessory seat covers that were tailored direct to the seats with modern vinyl
sides, and stitching.  So cool!!

I totally love this!!

ll new rubber on widened Porsche 356 wheels.
The brakes are all fresh, the transmission has been rebuilt and fitted with a 4:12 ring and pinion for easy
modern driving speeds.

Its all about patina...and this one has it.

Accessory brake lights

Top is absolutely new and very well fit.

Door panels look great!

All new rubber seals.

Headliner and sun visors are excellent.

Hood handle detail

Under the hood is equally scruffy but all electrics work and everything functions as it should.
12 volt electrics by the way.

The spare tire well is rusty but holding.

Rear corners of the body at the front of the wheel house are rusty

Under the engine is pretty clean...this engine, a 1600cc single port, runs like a sewing machine!
The owner is a lifetime VW mechanic and he really knows how to make a Beetle run right.
You could hop in this car and drive across the country right now!

Floor pan has been patched under the battery.
The support rails are rusted through yet the car seems very firm.
Replacement rails are available through many parts suppliers.

The car has quite a bit of paint on it from the looks of things..

Front end is good...steers and drives nice.

Deep oil sump is a nice addition.

Transmission is a freshly rebuilt unit.

Drivers side floor pan is holding but does have a couple small rust through spots.

Support rails on both sides are history.

The rear decklid is the correct one for the car...it is a bit battered, but workable.
The car has a clean title and current registration.
The vintage plates and frames do not come with the car...they were just on this car for display purposes.
The Thalia logo and door logos have been hand painted by a pro sign painter.
These could be easily removed if desired.

The engine is a 1600cc with 12 volt electrics. It is a very strong and smooth runner
that has been professionally serviced and tuned. This is a very reliable car.

Carpet is excellent throughout the whole interior...even the very back.
A speaker box is fitted in the "way back" and a hidden modern audio unit is in the glove box.

Proper rubber floor pats as well as a nice set of coco mats.
Pedal assembly and all controls are cleanly painted and restored.

Seat frames were detail painted before the covers were installed.

Assorted rust and barnacles here and there...it is a beach car through and through.

Fluted lens Euro style headlights

Headliner is excellent...all new

Nice details such as the black knobs to match the steering wheel.
Red vintage seat belts installed.

Dings and dents, cracks and crusties... this is a cor for someone that really just wants
a fun play toy that they dont have to worry about.
Throw the surfboards in the back, hop in it with a sandy ass...it is all about the fun.

Awesome vintage Empi tachometer is non functional.
The vintage "Red Baron" key ring matches the shift knob.

Love that wheel!

In closing this car is a ton of fun, totally unique and it brings a smile everywhere it goes.
Mechanically sorted and ready to drive daily or weekends or whatever you like.
Nice and new on the inside, top is fresh and sound for those bad weather days,
the rest is left as found with a lifetime of use evident from all angles.
