1964 Karmann Ghia For Sale
This South Carolina based 64 Ghia is in very nice shape and has a fun back story.
The car was a part of a VW dealership collection for many years and remained on the showroom
floor, but was driven occasionally. When the owner of the dealership passed, the car was sold to
a career Army officer who thought it might be a good car for his 16 year old daughter.
He had the car repainted at that time and sent her off in it...but she didn't like driving a stick
and not long after it ended up in the hands of a school teacher.
The current owners bought the car from the school teacher about 15 years ago and have
kept up the maintenance and kept it garaged when the weather is not favorable.
It is a good running and driving car that has survived the years quite well.
While it is not a "show car" perhaps, the owner did attend an East Coast Karmann Ghia Club
event and managed a 2nd place win in the show and shine!
Original owners manual (missing the cover)
Certification from Germany that the engine is original to the car.
This description sheet explains the standard "US equipment" items.
This is a generic sheet that covers many years...this car, being a 1964
model would have had 6 volt electrics from the factory.
The original color was Anthracite grey, perhaps
the Army officer chose the lighter color for his daughter for fashion reasons
or for better visibility...who knows?
Headliner looks good
Rear carpet is nice
When repainted, it was done well and complete including the door jams and dash
The car has just over 70,800 original miles
Original radio
Glass and trim are nice
Accessory rubber bumper trims on the guards
All stock and tidy.
You can see just a bit of the original anthracite grey under the front hood where the painter failed to point the gun
but the nose on this car looks amazing!
Original tool roll and a nice clean trunk liner
Good rubber, wheel trim rings and clean hubcaps
Interior is quite clean
Three point seat belts installed
Carpet and mats look pretty nice
Floor looks solid
Original engine has been upgraded to 12 volt electrics with an alternator .
Otherwise very stock
A nice example of a good solid and clear Ghia with a known history
and numbers matching engine.
