1966 VW Beetle Convertible For Sale

One of the most stunning color combinations on a convertible Beetle is
black with red interior.
Very few were made and they seem even rarer today, especially in
original form.
This Florida based example is one heck of a find.
It is a super solid and very original car that has had a respray on the
exterior, and some new carpet
but is otherwise a very original car.

The current owner is a fanatical VW nut that really works all the kinks
and details out of everything he owns.
This car was NICE when he got it and now it is even NICER!

Excellent body and paint, the top and interior are said to be originals,
paint on the dash and under the hood is all original, proper German
parts everywhere you look.

Chrome looks bright and shiny, really a very nice example.

The 1300cc engine was recently rebuilt and runs superb.
The chassis on this car is wonderfully solid and original.
The support rails are perfect, the fenderwells as well, there was one
small spot under the battery that needed repair but
this has been handled properly and it remains impressively solid and
rust free underneath.

The original carpet was too far gone to save, so the owner installed a
fresh carpet kit in red and some black mats to protect it.
The dash and seats and panels are all original and unrestored!

The headliner is original and shows some minor age discoloration but is
still in impressive shape.
The header panel here has been replaced as you can see as the original
was damaged.

The dash is all original and untouched, never modifed in any way and
all the original bits are intact.

Wiring is all spotless in here, totally untouched.
Original glove box is present, original wiring cover too.

Never hit front or back.

All original finish in here

So straight...so smooth.

Very nice!

The 1300cc engine runs like a top and is incredibly stock.
Note the short coil and the original German hose clamps on the fresh
air tubes...this was all just left alone and preserved
on the exterior, but has been recently rebuilt inside.

There has been one small repair done under the battery in this car but
that was the extent of the rust...the rest is superb.

Original upholstery!!! Amazing!!
It is showing a little age and some slight seam separation on the
center panels
(the thread just gets weak after so many years)
but it is such a shocker to see all original stuff in here, especially
on a convertible.

The top is reportedly original too and it does have the proper trim
above and below and around the window.
The top looks to be in very nice shape...there are a couple of small
splits right above the lower trim in the center above the decklid.
The rarity of it being original material was the deciding factor in
keeping it as is.
It is fully operational and still in good shape...so I agree...keep it
as long as you can!

Nice!
Check out the reflection on the paint in this shot too...this car is
STRAIGHT!

The new carpet looks nice.

That color combo is awesome!
Check out the red seat frames too which are original.
Door panels look great.

Here you can see the small splits starting on the top along the bottom
edge.

Rear seat upholstery is original as well.

Original owners manual is included.
Check out the original red seat belts too.

Very dry underneath

Bumpers are proper German units, rubber and trim is all in good shape

The car has a very nice aire of originality to it, it has that
intoxicating smell
it has just enough patina in the right spots to make you "feel" the
history
and is still very very pretty and show-worthy.

So nice

The car sits right...never lowered, never modified...just as it was
when it sat on the showroom floor.

Pretty

The owner sent a few shots of the car during it's respray...you can see
it was done with the fenders off

Looking at the body with the fenders off you can see how straight and
solid it is in the places
that count.

Excellent

The support rails were totally solid.

Inner body structure looks superb

Behind the front wheels too...very solid.

This car is a great example of a sympathetic restoration.
It would have been very easy to strip it all down and re-do everything,
but the rarity of an original
unrestored car is a valuable commodity. The paint was just too far gone
and the carpet was dry rotted and coming apart
so that is all that the owner had dealt with, and I think it was a wise
moeve.

A quality respray on a super solid and straight body.

It is a very nice package!

Finding an original black and red convertible is a tough hunt on it's
own...finding one any better than this
could take the rest of your life. This is a neat car.
