1953 Deluxe Beetle Sedan For Sale

OK, lets get past the calendar for a moment and take a look at the car
itself.
First of all the quality of the restoration is absolutely top notch.
This car was restored by the masters, Koch's did the assembly and mechanicals,
Joe Martinez applied the gorgeous Azure blue paint
Dave Lumetta did the exceptional interior and George Schmidt rebuilt the
25 horse engine.
A long long list of NOS parts were used during the restoration and it was
a true
every nut and bolt , body off restoration with a severe attention to detail.

The car was originally delivered to Copenhagen Denmark and some time after
it found it's way to the US.
The car received its restoration in 99-2000 after 8 years of parts hunting.
It has been driven very sparingly
since completion of the restoration, the owner states that it has less
than 100 miles on it since the restoration
it has remained in the garage, is started now and then and has only been
trailered to shows.
Just this year the car was fully serviced and is now ready for the road.
So it is still very fresh indeed.

Classic split window image...beautiful.

The quality of the paint and body is excellent, and the underside is as
clean as the top.
This was a serious restoration, not a quickie, and restorations of this
level dont come cheap.
Based upon what I see here, I would estimate that to have this restoration
done today to this level
would come very close to the asking price of the car, not including the
purchase price of a car to start with!

So...if it is a very well restored split window you are after...it would
be wise to buy one completed like this
rather than to go through the pain and expense of restoring one.

Just beautiful from all angles.

The bumpers and guards were NOS as were the headlights.

The Wolfsburg crest on the hood.

Detail shot of the gorgeous NOS VW logo Bosch european headlights.

Under the apron is near flawless, suspension is detailed as well.
I would venture to say that the car is nice now than it was when it rolled
off the assembly line.

The rare parts abound like this Hirschmann red tip antenna.

Cool accessory window vents allow some ventilation while the window is
up.

All new rubber seals and fresh chrome or NOS bits used wherever possible.

Correct early wire type wiper arms and aluminum bases.

The three fold sunroof, a very desireable factor to the early cars,
Beautifully restored and fully functional.

Stayfast canvas sunroof cover is in excellent shape.
The sunroof is not original to this car but is correct for the year and
was exceptionally well installed.

The split rear windows with the chrome trim around them, was a 53 only
attribute.

The "heart" taillight also were used for a short period of time
and are highly prized today.

And these were NOS units so they are perfect!

The spotless 25 horse engine runs excellent.
Less than 100 miles since the rebuild of all the mechanicals.

The engine goodies are all very correct including the flat top distributor,
"D" regulator, big nut generator and more.

Apron is spotless and correct with no exhaust cut outs.

Bottom side of the decklid is as shiny as the top.

Very clean wherever you look.

In all the dark corners it is gorgeous and very well done.

I didnt get any detailed suspension shots, but I can assure you that the
chassis is as clean as the
glimpses you see here show it to be. Very nice workmanship.

Front fender well shot...

Here's that front apron photo again...you can see the chassis here fairly
well.

Under the front hood is properly finished and detailed.
Correct small diameter fuel filler, etc.

Excellent wiring, NOS glove box.

Matching spare.

Proper apron and excellent detailing around the latches and such.

Correct early hood.

Proper hood hinges too.

Paint under the hood is nice quality too.

Pretty nice example so far...dont you agree?

Lets open the door and peek inside at Dave Lumetta's handiwork on the interior.

Some nice accessories such as the fuel lever extension, and the "cruiser"
gas pedal.

Proper early seats with beautifully detailed frames.

Visors and mirror.

Headliner is superb.

Carpet is of course the German square weave wool material.
Correct luggage rails in the back area.

Excellent finish work to the interior, complete with the bolster pillows.

Very nice indeed.

Very nice fit and finish to it all.

Accessory armrest is a nice addition.
Note the heater control knob with the proper early markings.

Perfect bat wing steeing wheel and horn button.

Cigar lighter under the dash.
Note the extremely rare Zwitter era only trip speedometer.

Nice early Blaupunkt radio.

The Zwitter only ashtray without the chrome ring around it.

Nice detailing in the door jams.

In closing the car is as nice as anyone could ever dream of.
The folks at Koch's and their supporting artisans did an excellent job
of doing the best that could be done.
Top quality materials, tons of NOS parts and a few choice rare accessories
are the icing on the cake.
The car has been featured in Hot VW's Magazine and is well known among
the VW faithful...its a darn nice car.
