1971 Karmann Ghia Convertible For Sale

This is a nice 1971 Karmann Ghia Convertible that is located here in Southern California.
It has a freshly rebuilt engine and a nice shiny coat of paint and is a great driver just as it sits.

The car is overall in decent shape but it is not a show level vehicle by any means and it does need a few things here and there.
But it is a car you can hop in and drive and enjoy just as it sits.

The top is in need of replacement as it has a couple of rips and the rear window is out.

It looks like the original color of the car was green perhaps?

Here you cn see the rip in the top...plus the headliner is not fitted, so it will need that as well.

The frame is in good shape though, and the top and headliner material is readily available.

Looks like the header bow will need some adjustment to fit tight across the windshield.

Rear window is missing...

OK...fold the top down and you dont have to worry about it...it's a convertible anyway right?

Rear seat looks in decent shape.

Dash is very nice with new woodgrain trim.

Original carpets and interior is holding up pretty good for the age of the car!

This looks to be the original upholstery!

Original panels too!

Some rust under the battery

Original air cleaner in place

The engine is a fresh rebuild and it runs great!

Under the hood...

Original jack is there

Looks like the nose had a light bump and repair as visable from behind.

Solid looking up front

Trunk has been all sprayed black and it looks pretty clean.

A little chrome peeling on one of the wheels

Brake calipers have been painted red which looks kinda cool.

Broken reflector on the drivers side rear.

Here is the worst body spot...some rust in the back corners.
This is an area underneath the bumper, so doing a spot repair would be fairly simple.
And replacement sheet metal is available out there that addresses this common rust spot.

Here is the same spot on the passenger side.

The car has a  trailer hitch on the back which is quite odd...
hard to imagine a Ghia towing a trailer, but this would be very handy for a hitch mount bike rack or something like that.

Looking in at the push rod tubes, you can tell this is all fresh in here.

Dry underneath too!

Transmission has some normal grime below...

Small crack/rust spot on the passenger side pan rear corner...the rest looks quite solid.

Here's a small ding down low on the chrome...looks like it dented the metal as well.

Horn hole down under the front bumper...rubber was sprayed over.
The paint job is an average one...not a full "restoration" quality job.

Here's a good shot of the floorpans looking back from the front...really looks quite good.

Wiper arms are not on the car at the moment.

Visors look new.

It looks like the rocker panels have had some bodywork done as the jack port cover seam is partially filled.

There is some pitting on the bumpers in spots.

On the drivers side rocker there is a little rust poking through and the jack port cover is missing.

Clean title with current registration.

While it does have some little issues here and there when you step back it really has a good bright and clean look to it.

In closing this is a fun car.
Mechanically it is good to go and cosmetically it has a presentable appearance.
When you get down to the details it is not perfect, but the price reflects this and in the end it is a very affordable
example of a desirable Ghia Cabriolet.
