1958 VW Karmann Ghia Coupe For Sale

Oh how I love these "low light" Ghias!
Such a wonderful design, and in the early years, it is at it's purest form.
It is no wonder why these are now on the serious "hot list" of VW models that are on the climb in value!

This one is a clean and solid "driver quality" restoration that is located in California.
It is not restored to exact original specs, but it shows well and is a delightful driver just as it is.

The engine was rebuilt about 3000 miles ago and was blueprinted and balanced with powder coated tin.
The exhaust is a Flat Four Abarth reproduction.
The transmission is a rebuilt split case with less than 1500 miles.
The front end has new king and link pins installed along with a new steering box.

The steering wheel, horn ring, speedometer and gas gauge were restored
and a NOS clock was installed. A nice original sapphire 1 Bendix radio is installed but not hooked up.
It has most all of the hard to find pieces including the chrome window trim correct wiper blades and arms.
The car is still 6 volt and the lights, blinkers and wipers all work fine.

The upholstery is a later style matching green and off white,  not original for 1958

Engine compartment is very clean

The car does show signs of front end repair...this shot inside the nose shows some hammer work
but it looks to have been done reasonably well and a well played attempt to keep filler to a minimum was applied.

The chassis looks very solid and dry underneath

This pic inside the drivers side front fender shows things to be in good shape overall with no heavy creases on this side.

Pan looks great

Very solid

This pic inside the passenger side front fender shows some minor distortion. but again...not heavy.

Here inside the spare tire well you can see the worst of the front end body repair...she is a little lumpy in here

Drivers side much better

From the outside though she looks straight and proper.

Interior is very clean and pretty

The paint color combo is not correct for 1958, but is correct for 1960.
It certainly does not look out of place on the car.

Beautiful!

The steering wheel is all restored and gorgeous.
Dash is very clean and well appointed with the proper parts.

There is some minor fading to the chrome on the bumpers...you can see the  spot where originally the bumper guards were fitted
and see the difference between the chrome that was covered, versus exposed.
The bumper are nice and straight though with no big issues.
Wheels and tires are in great shape

Really a very clean and presentable car that gets a lot of attention at the shows and on the road.

The correct large script logo is on the rear deck, taillights are correct

Year of manufacture California plates.
The history of this car is all in the west, with owners in Arizona and California.
The only notable area of rust repair is a patch beneath the battery.
The rest is reported to be super solid.

OK...whats with the huge dogs??
I need to chase down the info on that!!

All in all a clean and fun car just as it is.
Ready to play with and enjoy. You could improve on it over time if you desired
or just keep it as it is.  The values on these cars are starting the climb right behind the Porsche 356 and the VW Bus
and in my opinion, I dont think it will be long before we see 6 figure prices on the early convertible models.
This is just my gut feeling...only time will tell.
For now...get one while you can...and this one is reasonably priced at...

$19,750 obo
