1968 VW Auto Stick Beetle For Sale

One of my favorite parts about running Oldbug.com is that moment
when I open up a file of photos sent to me from a seller.
That anticipation excitement never gets old, but I will admit that much like
playing a slot machine at a casino, the reality of what you are going to see is
far more often a big disappointment than I would like.
While every old VW I think has some beauty and promise to it...occasionally there is a jackpot like this car.

The longer I am in the scene, the more I get excited about the all original "survivors".
There is just something so special about that originality and the purity of what its all about.

When a car is all original and well preserved, you know so much about what it really is.
You know there is no rust or body filler underneath, you can see the care that the car has had
through the level of preservation...they just really speak for themselves.

And the car has the factory Auto Stick transmission!!

This one was sold new in Anaheim California at Ballard Motors.

Delivered on May 18th 1968 to its happy new owner
and the chassis and engine numbers are here for documentation.

The original customer ID card is present, "M Walker" was no longer a walker when they took delivery
and drove home to nearby Fullerton.

Some fun historic paperwork with the car that helps document where it has been

Pretty religious level of service in the book.

I love all these hand written notes

In 2016 it received a full tune and re-seal...mileage noted at 96185 at the time.

Odometer reads 96,433 currently.

At some point a radio was installed...

The factory antenna hole plug remains in place and an antenna installed on the drivers side front quarter panel
Also a key actuated alarm system was installed at some point.

Still original headliner in pretty impressive shape

Original labels on the back side of the glove box door.

Sadly the sun has gotten to the top of the rear seat, but the luggage area still has the original textured matting
and a super cool fire extinguisher mounted in back.

Door panels are holding up nice

Super solid under the back seat and battery

Door jams look great and with some proper detailing will look even more amazing.

Original Huf key

Dash looks great, carpet has been replaced up front.

Still has the warning sticker in the window for the alarm system.

Behind the dash looks great

Under the dash as well

Looks like the seat backs have been redone, and personally I think to make this car just a bit nicer,
some fresh seat covers would be in order. I hate to lose the originality, but at the same time
when things get worn to the point of being uncomfortable or offensive...its time.

Bumpers have the original guards in place

Original paint code sticker is still present.
A little time in here cleaning and detailing and this will look fantastic.

Looks like the jack and handle are present and accounted for

The engine is super original and stock!

Very clean underneath

Hella lenses

Solid pans and heater channels.

Fantastic!

Do you see the light?
Amen!

The original numbers matching engine!!

This one is a diamond that just needs a little polishing here and there to be truly impressive.

So stock, so solid, so pure.

You just don't find them like this very often these days.
Desirability of the Autostick trans cars has been steadily increasing and the values
of the late 60's Beetles is on the rise as well. This is one to grab and hold,
carefully preserve it, improve it and enjoy it and just hang on to it and see what the future holds.
