1967 VW Type 3 Factory Sunroof Fastback For Sale
SOLD!!

Here is a model that pops up quite rarely here on Oldbug..
A VW Fastback

There is certainly something very 60's about a fastback body style,
be it the VW, a Mustang, or whatever...it is a shape that immediately
takes you back to that era.

This one looks clean, I like it in the white!

This northern California based 1967 Fastback is a nice clean runner and
driver with
a very solid chassis and the desirable factory sunroof!

The Fastback was introduced to the VW line in 1966 and continued on
until the end of the Type 3 model line in 1973.
The body design is pure 60's and in my opinion is one of the most
attractive next to the squareback and notchback.
Its a model that seems to rarely come up for sale, and even more so in
decent condition.
I have been scanning the Fastbacks on the market for years looking for
the "right one"
and this one is tempting...especially with the sunroof.

The current owner has had the car for about 5 years and has kept up on
the maintenance and had a great time with it.
Its a reluctant sale, but reality hits now and then and he needs to
take the funds from this and buy a safe more modern
machine that his 16 year old daughter can go out in the world with.
While this could certainly do the job,
the safety and security of something with airbags and such is pulling
strong.

The car has obviously had some restoration work done in the past and it
is still quite attractive with minimal wear.
Nice clean seats and panels, new dash pad, unmodified dash, stock
steering wheel and it is the 4 speed manual trans.

Modern audio under the dash but very cleanly installed.
Stock switches and controls are all present.

Dash pad is in very nice shape and looks to be a recent replacement
unit.

Speedometer has the trip meter as well. Mileage is not accurate on the
car as there was a period
when the odometer was not working...but it functions now.

Headliner is in very nice shape as are the visors

Rear panel material is lifting just a little but this would be a simple
re-glue.

The factory sunroof is a rare and desirable option!

Rear deck

The stock dual carb 1600cc engine is thought to have been rebuilt by
the previous owner.
It runs great and has been kept up with. Current owner has been
consistent with maintenance and
has brought it to the mechanic to repair any issues...it has been very
reliable for him, just chasing little stuff like oil leaks and the like.

Under the front hood looks reasonably clean and there are a few spare
bits in here.

Clean title and current tags .

The custom wheels give it a nice sporty look but I must say if it were
my car I would swap for the
stock steel wheels and hubcaps and maybe even some thin whitewalls to
really give it that stock original look.

The great part about this car is that it is clean and attractive and it
runs strong.
It is a great start for someone to take and personalize to their own
desire.
Stock, custom, plain or loaded with accessories...it would not take
much to change the appearance of the
car and make it seem totally different than it is today. Of course...as
it is today is really nice too...perhaps just leave it and enjoy it!

Factory disc brake car.

Shocks look fairly recent, suspension is all stock and unmodified

Floorpans are super solid and straight!

Really an wonderfully solid underside here!
It appears that someone did some fancy paint detailing on the trans at
one point...they obviously never came blue from the factory.

There is a dent at the very bottom tip of the front apron way below the
bumper.

Engine is super dry and drip-free underneath
Heater boxes are all hooked up properly

Looks like possibly recent bushings back here.

There is another body flaw at the very bottom edge of the rear apron as
well but from the top side it
does not detract from the overall look of the car.

In closing the car really looks quite clean to me.
Finding one that has a chassis as solid as this one is a rarity and
being a 67 model
with that awesome factory sunroof makes it especially attractive.
Hopefully this one will sell fast so I am not tempted to try to figure
out how to make it my own.
I love my job here, but at times I feel like an alcoholic running a
liquor store...i want it all for myself!!
