1974 VW Beetle For Sale
This Colorado based 74 standard Beetle has a recent paint job
new wheels and tires and numerous other details.
It is a good running "driver quality" car at a very reasonable price.
In 1974 VW built both the standard and super Beetles...the difference being the front suspension,
shape of the dash , windshield and front sheet metal.
Otherwise they were the same car...same engines and transmissions, etc.
The front suspension on the standard model was the tried and true ball joint front beam
while the super models had the MacPherson struts.
The flat windshield standard models share the same windshield glass as Beetles back to 1965.
Its a bit more of the classic Beetle design and as a result it seems to be a bit more popular than tht esuper.
In 1974 in the US, the Beetle got the slightly larger front and rear bumpers with shock absorbing mounts
to make it through the increasingly strict crash testing regulations for the US market.
The dash is the same as models back to 1968, with the pad that covers the face.
The steering wheel is of the newer design.
Headliner looks just a little loose along the edges, but is clean
The sport racks on the top are a nice functional accessory.
Chrome wheels are a sporty addition.
Good looking basic Beetle!
The roof racks are easily removed if they are not your style.
Front trunk has been painted black to clean it up a bit.
Open up and say Ahh!
Wiring and back of dash seen decently in order.
Looks like the car was originally orange in color.
High back front seats
Aftermarket shifter and boot.
Body looks nice and straight and the seller says the paint is new!

Speakers in the back behind the seat
1600cc dual port engine runs well, recent alternator and other service.
Engine is reasonably clean...not all greasy or anything.
Rear seat is clean
Underneath looks quite solid.

Looks like there has been some rust repair done under the battery side of the floorpan
Spare wheel included as well as an extra set of wheels mounted up with winter tires!
In closing a good basic entry level vintage VW.
A good choice for someone that wants to play with an old Beetle but
doesnt want to break the bank doing it!
