1977 VW Standard Beetle For Sale

This awesome green VW Beetle has been in one family since new
The photo above showing what it looked like before going into storage.

The original sales invoice from August in 1977 when it sold at
Bird Imported Motors in Danbury CT. $4317.35 out the door

VW stopped Beetle production for the USA in July of 1977 with the final chassis number being
1172101292. This car, being chassis number 1172082052 probably rolled off the line in May of 1977.

Production was relatively low for 1977 in Germany with just over 32,000 Beetles being produced
which includes convertibles as well.  Considering at the height of production (1969) was 1,042,048 cars
its a wild drop as VW trailed off the air cooled Beetle in Germany and pushed heavily into the water cooled cars.
The only years VW made less Beetles in Germany was 1948 and prior! (and of course 78-80 which were all convertibles)

The car today is located in Florida in the hands of the original owner's brother.
Its been recently revived after sitting in storage for many years and has been nicely detailed.

The car received a nice quality repaint in the original Viper Green nearly 25 years ago
but thanks to proper storage, it remains in excellent condition.

The Viper green paint color is also a bit of a rarity.
Introduced in 1975 as a part of the limited edition "Le Grande" cars
it continued on in small numbers until the end of production.

It features the original fuel injected 1600cc engine that the seller states that it runs well.

Looks like all the original equipment is present.

Under the front hood looks clean and very untouched

Original trunk liner still in nice shape

The complete tool kit, jack and handle are here.

Under the trunk liner it is all original and untouched.
It does appear that the spare tire well has been sprayed in black.

Matching spare sport wheel in place.
Looks like possibly some minor aging to the chrome

Interior shows well and looks totally original to me.

Original radio still in the dash (a $90 option when new)
Dash pad is in nice shape...obviouslya  well kept and cared for car its whole life.

Odometer reads 93,279 miles at the time of these photos.

Backs of the front seats look quite clean

Original door panels in excellent condition

Nice clean door jams.

Rear seat looks like it was never sat in.

Still all the original fiber padding

Even the paper inspection tag remains under the seat.

Very solid underneath the battery

Engine has been recently serviced and some re-sealing done to stop oil leaks.
A few other new parts have been installed obviously as well
to get it up and running and driving properly.

The braking system has just been rebuilt with new cylinders and hoses.
The tires show excellent tread and hold pressure just fine, but they are older.

Chassis looks very solid
