1963 VW Beetle Project For Sale

This 1963 Beetle was recently rescued by a California based enthusiast that saw
incredible promise beneath its faded exterior and brought the car home to start the revival.

The plan in his eyes were to replace the rubber bits, get the car running and driving,
and then polish the remaining original paint inside and out and just enjoy the faded glory look.

The car is just screaming for that sort of approach and it is exactly what I would do with it as well.

Mother nature really did a number on this car and its just gorgeous.
So much character and cool factor.

To start the project he removed all the exterior trim and pulled the seats out.

The plan was to clean and perhaps coat the exterior with some sort of
protective coating to give it a bit of gloss and protect the finish from further deterioration.

The project however never got past this point and it now is waiting for the next owner to do
with it what they wish to do.

The images you see here are the car as it sits today and how it is being sold
All the removed parts are included in the sale of course, but the seats, bumpers, etc
are off the car and boxed up.

The fade is just incredible

Here are a couple of pics of the car in the owners garage before he started the work.

What a great pair (and no...the Bus is not for sale...don't ask)

In any case here are some pics oif it all together so that you can see the parts that come with it on the car

Still original upholstery

Pretty cooked under the rear window...but still original headliner.

Yes...that is the driveway visible through the passenger side floor... details on that shortly.

Original door panels

Under the front hood is all original paint that will clean up amazingly well!

Interior paint as well is bright and colorful, will look really nice all cleaned up.

Under the engine lid too the paint will really clean up nicely.

The original engine is not currently running.
It is just left as-found and no efforts have been made to get it going again.
The engine does turn though, which is a good start, but will need full mechanical attention to all
systems before it can be made roadworthy.

Damn its cool.

What would you do with this fresh canvas?
Restore? Clear coat and slam on alloys?

Mega straight body and all original body panels.
No accidents front or back, just little bumps and bruises and that incredible sun fade.

Ok...lets get under here so we can really see what it is all about.
Overall, its a good solid original car where it counts.

Apron is straight and solid, spare tire well also

Solid in the fender wells

Really pretty impressive, and a car that was never undercoated.

Surface rust of course, but the heater channels look good from what I can see as well as the important structural parts

Wow

Oh...parts... all here

Back inside... oriinal paint will clean up well.
Radio hole is not cut up , everything is all stock and original

Even the paint code sticker is still under the hood!

Super straight and solid

A couple small apron scuffs and that's it

Window rubber is all cooked and needs replacement

Solid

A couple more engine shots

So original and stock.

OK, here is the worst of it...passenger side floor pan is shot!
Simple standard replacement issue of course and the parts are readily available
but it is something that will need to be done for sure.

It looks like forward of the seat rails it is pretty solid though...some surface rust under the tar board
as you can see with it peeled up a bit, so treating the remaining metal would be wise
but I think you could do a repair of just the back half of the pan with one of the smaller repair sections that
they sell rather than doing an entire pan half from front to back.

The rest looks pretty good from underneath

So...there you have it. A truly killer all original faded Beetle that is ready
for a new life on the road after you apply your efforts and creativity to it.
Real deal beautiful finish by Mother Nature...some of her finest work I must say.
