This bright and pretty 70 Camper is located in Ohio.
It is a Texas Bus originally and was shipped to Ohio not long ago and it
has never been exposed to the harsh winters or salted roads
that plague Ohio...so it remains a solid honest Bus underneath.
It has received a nice cosmetic restoration by the father and son owners
and it is a good looking ride.
The body was very straight on the Bus before the restoration with very very
minimal rust or damage.
It was stripped down to bare metal and massaged properly before paint.
The original color of the Van was the white color you see on the top.
Rather than go with the boring stock white, they chose to use this very pretty
blue below the belt line.
The two tone look gives it a lot more style and the color is bright and fun.
I like the ise of the thin whitewalls on the stock wheels and the trim rings
add some more "bling" as well.
Stock height...never lowered or modified.
Nice looking machine from all angles.
The chrome plates nose vent is another nice addition and of course the roof
rack is great too.
This is what VW folks refer to as a "low light" Bay.
The Early Bay windows from 68-72 had the turn signals down low like this
in 73 they changed the front end to have the turn signals up next to the
vent and the bumpers got chunkier
at the same time.
The interior of the Camper has been redone and looks very nice and comfortable.
Door panels are black, new rubber seals and weather stripping everywhere.
Jock panels have been carpeted and fitted with speakers.
Stock rubber floor mat up front...seat stands have been carpeted.
The floors in the Bus are pretty solid. There was a couple of small coin
sized holes in the floor on the drivers
side that were filled and finished with fiberglass, but the rest of the body
remained quite solid.
Everything is clean and sound at the moment and the repairs are holding in
very well.
Seat upholstery is very clean in blue cloth with vinyl sides.
Dash is stock and not modified all crazy or anything.
Door panels are clean...the two tone is continued inside the jams.
Grab handle on the passenger side is missing a plastic end trim..
Looks pretty clean under the dash.
Out back a nice fold up table and Westfalia bed and closet are in place.
No jump seat or ice box/sink
but this does allow for a lot more open space to work with.
Table is edged with aluminum.
Outlet is framed in aluminum.
All nicely carpeted.
Rear seating/ bed looks great in the b;ue material and the plaid pillows
and curtains and very nice!
Headlining looks clean.
One small flaw in one spot.
Audio system in the Camper is very cool...check out the big subwoofer under
the rear seat!
Wall closet.
Plenty of room for your goodies in here!
Coat hook rod for hangars and another couple of nice hooks in the back.
Flipped out into a bed it looks super comfortable and clean.
I like the spare tire cover.
Closet wall in nice shape with the original laminate.
Overhead shelf is a great spot to stash your blankets.
Its been cleaned up nice and carpeted up here too.
Slider door panel done in black.
Cool to see the handle instruction sticker put back in place...nice little
detail.
Under the rear deck cushion is a rubber mat to keep things clean.
Pad down it looks quite nice.
Inside the engine room has been sprayed black...
Stock air cleaner in use..
Engine is a good running 1600cc dual port unit with a bit of chrome.
Under the engine lid is sprayed white...gives it a clean look.
The exhaust is a 4 tip set up that just clears the bumper.
Clean clear title and registered in Ohio as a Historical Vehicle.
Looks like there may be a little crack or scratch on the bumper blade back
here...
The original accessory mosquito net is here for the back hatch!
Up on top of the wall closet is the original kids cot that goes over the
front seats.
Here is one paint blister under the side window that should be cleaned and
treated and touched up.
Steering wheel has a couple of chips at the hub.
Odometer reads 91,000 miles.
Actual miles are undocumented.
Fuel gauge.
Heater control knobs are missing.
Original steering lock/ignition switch has been removed.
Ignition switch has been relocated to the dash.
Cigar lighter is a non factory add on...but VERY usefull with todays electronics.
Glove box is new in hearty plastic.
Original floor mat could perhaps use some cleaning, but it looks to be in
dencet shape.
Mat between the front seats is an original as well.
I like the little add on cup holder on the drivers seat stand!
With no ice box or jump seats, the seat stand walls are just clean painted
steel.
The wood slat Westfalia style roof rack is great for luggage or whatever.
Interesting to see a surfboard in Ohio...but it sure looks good on the Bus!
Roof is nice.
Crank open camper windows provide excellent ventilation.
Tires are very good on all four corners.
Underside of the Van is very solid.
Engine is dry underneath.
Side step is a nice accessory!
A little wear to the chrome emblem...
Headlight rings and signals and reflectors are in good condition.
Retractable seat belts...original decals and such are in place.
Dash top looks nice.
Windshield has a tinted top and the fuzzy dice and sun visors all look good.
