1975 VW Westfalia Camper with Porsche 911 engine for sale!

We have seen a lot of really neat VWs come through the website in the past 24 years
that we have been running it, and every now and then one pops up that is really special.
This sweet camper is what you call a "sleeper"... and I mean that literally and figuratively.

The secret behind the curtain is this.
This is a freshly and fully rebuilt Porsche 911 engine.
A 3.0 litre unit from a 1978 911 Targa !
This "ROW" (rest of the world) spec engine, free of the choking US emissions equipment
cranks out about 213hp! It is also equipped with a modern, fully functional air conditioning system!

And its all wrapped in this clean and un-assuming stock looking camper box!

Walking around it has some "flair" in the form of some interesting stickers an fanciful curtains.

Nice clean crank out windows for ventilation

Nice Toyo tires on clean rims with custom Porsche center caps

Big oil cooler with fan underneath.
It keeps that Porsche engine running cool on even the hottest days.

A/C condensor and fans underneath as well.
Body and chassis is very solid on this Camper as well.

Front end has been beefed up a bit with a fatter sway bar and KYB shocks.
Slightly lowered up front to level out the ride.
Air horns and disc brakes ! The suspension has been dialed in by the masters at Old Speed.

Tiny bit of surface rust in the rain gutter up front is the only corrosion I found.
This is a very solid Bus.

Out back under the cushions, the rear deck is super clean.

Access door for engine servicing is factory of course
but the vision through it is certainly different.

Very nice clan factory plaid interior and Westfalia cabinetry.

All stock and clean inside

I love the green panels and plaid seats...so cool!

Very nice dash

Looks clean in the door jams

Headliner is nice

The under dash a/c system is cleanly installed and is plumbed through the factory dash vents
as wekk as these outlets below the dash. It blows cold is is very effective in making you feel
as cool as you look when driving this big yellow submarine.

Cool banjo steering wheel is a nice classic touch.
This is a slightly smaller diameter than the factory wheel .

Very cleanly fitted Porsche gauge for engine monitoring.

Radio!

Nice coco mats up front

Clean green carpet out back

Foot stool, storage box is loose and can be moved wherever you like

Cool curtains

Plenty of cabinet space for your stuff

Ice box!

Water tank

Shelves, service manual, etc

Sink

Pop top canvas and bed are in very nice shape

Kids cot in the original bag

This of course flips out into a nice bed as well

Good looking rig!

Marina yellow L 20A

A/C controls

The Bus us titled as a 1975 model in California so it does not need emissions testing.

Under the engine is clean.
Note the added sway bar at the back

No heater boxes, just headers into a stock 911 muffler.

Sounds mellow and cool.

It all just fits so perfect in there, if you didn't know better, you would think its factory!

This engine has been fully rebuilt by a very skilled Porsche mechanic
in Southern California named Dave Bustamente.
It has just a couple thousand miles on it since being done
(transmission too was rebuilt with freeway flyer gearing by Rancho)

Fuel injected, starts right up and runs so sweet!

Very clean and still reasonable room for working around.

Fun 3000 emblem added to hint to the engine size.

Nice paint and body, good glass and body seals

Porsche badge is a small hint at the powerplant

I went for a ride in the Bus and was simply smiling so wide the whole time.
It hauls ass and easily highway cruises at 80-85 mph.
The sound of the 911 engine out back is not loud, but you know its not the factory lump.
Hills? Not a problem!
Seriously...if you come and drive this thing, you will want it badly!
Its awesome!

Anyway...shes a clean one!

A shockingly fun sleeper and the best of both worlds.
You can drive it anywhere and pop that top and camp with the best of them.
No longer the slowest thing in traffic as well...and dont forget that air conditioning!!
