1967 VW Beetle Show Car For Sale
When the Arizona owner got the car, the restoration was completed but he
couldnt leave well enough alone
and went totally wild with having the mechanicals and interior done. With
over $12,000 invested in the engine
and drivetrain and another $8000+ in the impressive custom interior...it
was taken to another level indeed.
Everything is brand new with less than 300 miles on the car since completion.
The look is classic Cal Look style with the turquoise paintwork and the
polished alloys
but underneath and inside, the most modern details were applied.
Super clean machine.
The Porsche alloys are gorgeous and are the genuine article.
Hells h4 headlights.
Wipers have been chromed
Super clean in the nooks and crannies.
Pop out rear quarter windows.
Every spot is detailed to show level including under the hood.
Custom hood hinges with struts.
Matching spare wheel and tire.
Chrome details such as the access plates and gas tank brackets...all super
clean.
Hood latch was chromed and the hardware replaced with hex heads
Excllent paint and bodywork and very nice panel fit.
Euro style amber topped taillights.
Bumper brackets and hardware all chrome plated, back sides of the bumper
are color matched to the body.
Heres where it gets really interesting.
No stocker 1500 back here...this is a full pro-built 2332cc monster assembled
by the masters
at Competition Engineering with only the very best quality parts.
As if that wasnt enough on it's own, it features a fullly hand built custom
intake system and fuel injection.
The fuel intection system is fully controllable from inside the car with
a controller that allows you to tweak the
timing, fuel mixture and so on. The intake system took about 100 hours
of labor to complete.
The fan shroud is all carbon fiber and the fan is real Porsche 930 stuff.
The engine has only about 300 miles on it...it is very fresh indeed.
Fuel injection system is very well done.
Throttle body and base of the custom intake box
Really beautiful workmanship and the owner states that it runs extremely
strong.
When first assembled it was actually a little too strong with about 225
horsepower!
A cam change and some other tuning brought it down to around 185hp which
is still blistering fast for
a car this light.
A-1 custom Sidewinder exhaust with 1 5/8 inch tubing.
Impeccably detailed underneath.
Not your average Beetle
Trans is a full performance gearbox with all the trimmings to handle the
extra horsepower.
Built for street use, not the drag strip.
Floor pan was fully finished and detailed
New hardware and chrome bits hold the body to the pan.
Disc brake set up in the front is beautiful.
Look at the level of polish on the inside of the wheel rim here...this
guy went NUTS!
Chrome trailing arms and tire rods...the works.
Cross drilled brake rotors and Porsche bolt pattern.
Fuel pump and filter
Brake system looks amazing...check out the polished lines and the custom
fluid resevoir!
Wow.
OK...the outside is nice and the underside is nice...ready to see the mega
dollar interior?
Subtle but extremely well done interior is very impressive.
The seats are beautifully done with great stitch pattern and design.
Full race lap belts add a nice touch as well.
Door panel detail is awesome with the carpet edge on the leading corner
and very classy stitch design.
Polished billet door sills.
Super clean dash with a full array of instrumentation.
Awesome street rod steering wheel. Check out the billet aluminum dash knobs
and all those VDO guages.
Gene Berg locking shifter, chromes pedals, check out the custom carpet
set up and how the vinyl centers
match up with the vinyl on the front...slick work!
Rear seat is beautifully done to match as well.
Doesnt look like any VW Ive ever seen!
Behind the seat is more well fitted carpets.
Box back here houses the coils of the engine...yes, I said coils...one
for each cylinder!.
Here's the controller for the injection system...very simple but extremely
well designed.
This set up is an FAA approved unit used on experimental aircraft...pretty
neat.
And a very simple mixture knob to lean out or richen the mixture.
Berg shifter base is very nicely polished.
Note the chrome brake handle.
Super clean in the door jams...nice level of detail.
Note the chromed hex head hardware for the door hinges.
Battery cut off switch under the back seat.
One of the coolest custom VW interiors I have seen...very classy and subtle.
So...that lays it all out pretty clearly. This is a really amazing car
that has not only had a top quality restoration
from the ground up, it has also had a major mechanical re-vamping that
makes it a truly unique driving experience.
And that interior...wow...what more can I say? An absolutely incredible
buy for the money!
Car is located in Conneticut and can be seen by appointment only.
We will be adding a couple of "current day" photos shortly to
prove it's condition is just as seen in the images above...
it is in the exact same condition, but I will post some images to prove
it.
The car is impressive...more so in person than in the photos.
